Scrap Pink Update

Scrap Sistaz:

I am researching some of the area scrap stores that will be participating in the SCRAP PINK event in September so that those that would like to participate (So far...Me and Tina) can put in feedback on which one would be the most convenient, economical, and of course FUN!!

Here is information on the first one I researched:

Scrapbook Peddler
Saginaw, Michigan
http://www.scrapbookpeddler.com/
September 26, 2009 Saturday
ScrapPink Charity Crop 9:00AM - 9:00PM

We are having a 12-hour workshop on Saturday, September 26th, from 9:00am to 9:00pm. A portion of the proceeds from the workshop will be donated to the Susan G. Komen's mission to find a cure for breast cancer through research, education, screening, and treatment.

The workshop is $30.00 per person and includes the following:
One Meal (around 4pm) & Snacks
Goody Bag
Use of the Die Cut Center
10% off Your Purchase the Day of the Crop

******************************************

It looks like this one is for one day, September 26th. So it would be good if we decide as a group that we only want to scrap one day out of the two day ( Sept. 26th & 27th) SCRAP PINK event. I have never been to this store, so if others have, please leave feedback on what you thought of it. This will help to either eliminate it from the selections or put it at the top of the final list that we decide from. Also, remember that $10.00 of the thirty-dollar fee goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

I will keep posting as I get more information from other places.

Scrapbook Challenge 15A

I guess the cold, rainy days are good for me to get my scrapbooking challenges caught up. Here is my version of challenge 15A. Pretty much all I used were stickers that I have in my scrapbooking vault. I am still trying to weed out old stuff. About the only thing I did similar to this challenge is the wave (baskets). But I like the page and that I have it documented about my mom making us Easter baskets every year. The sun was bright Easter morning when I took the snapshots, so that is why the kids are squinting. But they are boys, and I couldn't get them to cooperate and stand where I wanted them to. :)

Scrapbook Challenge 17A

My Version:

Challenge Version:
If there were an award, I think I would end up with the "Most Layouts Not Like the Challenge". Its not that I couldn't do them exactly like the layouts, its that I don't want to leave out pictures. So for this one, I did a double line of pics so that I could fit those that I wanted to include. I didn't use the "Summer Is", but I did use other wording from a sticker assortment I have because it matched my paper so well and fit the page theme. I am just so glad to have this wonderful event from the past documented and in a scrapbook for others to see! Off to do other layouts on this cold and rainy day. :)

Scrap-pink

Looking through my emails this morning I found this information about SCRAP-PINK. Not sure if anyone else has heard or read about it, or participated in the past, but here are the Michigan scrapbook stores that are participating so far this year. There are a couple of places close enough to drive to. The dates are Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, the 27th.

I thought I would put the idea out there for the Scrap Sistaz in case we would all like to plan on doing something like this as a group. I know that breast cancer hits close to home with my family and so this would not only be a fun scrapping event but it would also be a way for me to honor the special women in my family.

ABOUT SCRAP-PINK

Scrapbooks etc. is partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to hold the 3rd Annual "Scrap Pink" fundraising campaign in September 2009 at independent retail stores across North America.

The campaign will culminate in an exciting on-site crop hosted by each participating shop the weekend of September 26-27, 2009. Scrapbookers are invited to enjoy a fun-filled event at their local scrapbook shop! Scrapbookers all across the nation will come together to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

Ten dollars of your crop fee will support Komen for the Cure's promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.

Scrap Challenge ??....14B

Gosh, it has been so long since I posted a challenge, I can't even remember which one I am on. Anyhow, this is 14B, the one with the "HAT". I have had these pictures for a couple of months and couldn't decide what to do with them until this challenge. If you have read my other blogs, you know that it is a tradition for my family to eat at Cracker Barrel. Last summer, while traveling, the tradition didn't end, and we stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Georgia. Keanu found this hat immediately and just had to have it. He wore it throughout the rest of our traveling. Now, it sits atop a shelf in his bedroom and he denies that he "begged" us to buy him this $35.00 hat. I guess that is why scrapping this information is such a great idea. That way, us moms can document things they can't remember! (or deny!)

Lisa Bearnson-Club

I received in the mail yesterday, an envelope with information about Lisa Bearnson's memory keeping collection club and I am wondering if anyone has any feedback.

Here is the website:

www.scrapbookmemoriesclub.com

I have been searching for a good kit of the month club. I have tried one, but it didn't turn out to be that great.

Let me know what you think if you have subscribed to this one. Thanks!

Scrap Challenge 11A

Wow...that was a hiatus! And I admit that I have missed scrapping!

Here is my version of scrap challenge 11A. Again...I started out with the format (notice my "circle" cookie). LOL

The thing is though that I have had these pictures for a couple of months and have been wanting to get them scrapped. But once I started the layout, I found that I had too many pictures (again!) that I wanted to include. So, my second page of the layout is way off from the challenge. But I still like it since the pictures are what is most important to me and I am so glad that it is done. Most importantly, my boys all commented while I was putting it together.

Keanu: Mom, you look the same. You look the same in all of your pictures. Especially your hair.

Me: That's a good thing isn't it?

Keanu: Yeah, but still.

*****************************

Me: Lorenzo, do you remember doing this?

Lorenzo: Yeah, but I am not liking my hairstyle. It looks gay.

*****************************

Anthony (looking over my shoulder): Okay..I do not remember this event at all.

Me: You don't??

Anthony: Not in the least. And who's idea was it for us all to get together and make Christmas cookies? Plus, what is that gay face Zachary is making? And Keanu looks like he is about five. I don't think he is ever gonna grow. Okay, everyone just looks wrong in these pictures. Dad looks young though because he has his mustache.

Kids....Gotta love 'em!
